Andre Ristic

So who is Andre Ristic..?

A composer, and pianist with the Trio Fibonacci and the Ensemble contemporain de Montreal. The trio recently completed a very successful tour of England playing works mainly by Canadian and English composers.

The Trio Fibonacci is dedicated to the twentieth century repertoire with a particular emphasis on new music.

In addition to Andre Ristic the members are Gabriel Prynn ('cello) and Julie Anne Derome (violin).

Born in Quebec city Andre Ristic studied at the Quebec and Montreal Conservatoires attending piano, composition and ancient music classes.

His compositional style may be described as typically 'North American', and he is a passionate advocate of music by young Canadian composers. He currently has a catalogue of around 15 works.

Recently, the Ensemble Contemporain de Montreal, the TUYO ensemble (Montreal), and Karoline Leblanc (harpsichord), gave first performances of his compositions. Andre Ristic has received honours at various competitions, as pianist and composer, and has been awarded grants by the Canada and Quebec Arts Councils.

Composers in Electronic Residence

This award winning site aims to link music students and teachers to Canada's professional composers in order to make available their expertise and enthusiasm.

This is achieved through a dynamic exchange of MIDI music files and comments. Composers submit reworkings of students original ideas back to the students to aid their compositional development.

The approach is fresh and exciting and I have not found a similar project in the UK.
