Originally composed in 1985, PLAY II has been performed many times, but this performance will use the new 2003 revision. The work is scored for amplified harpsichord and synthesiser (the Baldwin Solid Body harpsichord with live electronics in the form of a REX 50 digital processor and an Ensoniq SQ2 for this performance)

PLAY II is written in a graphic notation that acts as a mnemonic for previously rehearsed decisions and strategies and lasts between 25 and 28 minutes. The work is technically demanding and is concerned with play in many forms - playing an instrument: techniques, styles, etc … a game: strategies, tactics, etc … and of course fun!
